About Ricky Bush
Richard "Ricky" Bush has been listening to, playing or writing about the blues for most of his adult life. His articles have highlighted the careers of
various blues musicians in such publications as BLUE ACCESS, AMERICAN HARMONICA NEWSMAGIZINE, and HITTIN' THE NOTE (the Allman
Brothers Band fanzine). He's written countless blues music reviews for numerous online sites such as DELTA SNAKE BLUES. He began his own
blog, BACK IN THE DAY, as some of these sources fell by the wayside and disappeared.
Once he retired from teaching a couple of generations of high school students in journalism, English and world geography (including his own kids), he
decided to write the book that his wife reminded him that he'd said that he'd write when they first met. Of course, that book required that the rhythm of
the blues ran through it. And, it did, as have the books that have followed. He's a member of Mystery Writers of America, the International Thriller
Writers, International Crime Writers and Sister in Crime organizations.
He has hung his hat in the log home that he and his wife built themselves deep in the heart of Texas, where he's raised three kids into adults. When
he's not listening to or writing about the blues, he most likely will be playing a tune or two on his harmonica. Occasionally, he can be coaxed by his
wife to help out with running the office of the family oil business that they helped develop. He loves getting out and participating in bookstore signings,
addressing book clubs, and student groups...especially about the blues.
